Thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to learn more about who I am. This blog will incorporate everything you will read below at one point or another. I hope you enjoy what you read at Blue Eyed Monkey Eeks!.
Blue Eyed Monkey aka Tatyanna is a kitty mom of two and birth mom of one burgeoning adult (he is 20) named Julian. She currently lives in North Hollywood, California (smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles) . Born in the the Year of the Monkey, 1968, she grew up in Springfield Massachusetts.
With an activist mother and father who is a true community leader, she carries on a legacy of responsibility to the local and global community. The oldest in an multi-level family of many siblings (blood and adopted) she exhibits ONLY the positive traits on an eldest child. Seriously! Hehe. Pictures of mom and dad coming soon.
Tatyanna arrived in California the night before April Fools Day in 1999. She has spent the years since securing roots in a transient city. Los Angeles has been cruel
and kind. She has met some amazing people in L.A. who enrich her daily life and has found a strong spiritual foundation that informs every moment. As a woman with Powhatan ancestry on her father’s side, Creator led her on a
long journey through Earth based religions until she landed her feet firmly back on the path which they were born on, the Red Road.
Blue Eyed Monkey is also the Owner of Egeria Consulting, a multi-skilled independent consulting company. Egeria was a nymph/Goddess of water and wisdom in ancient Rome. People came to the waters of her fountains to seek her guidance.
This monkey with blue eyes, has over 17 years of professional experience in non profit management and training, program development, funds development, curriculum writing and event planning. She has specialized in youth development, women’s and indigenous issues and senior services.
Tatyanna has spent much of her adult life as a self confessed computer geek. This love of technology has allowed her
to gain more than a dozen years of computer maintenance and software experience, which she has parlayed into several years of teaching and tech support. Whether she is cleaning up a computer riddled with viruses and malware or creating a website, this work is food for her brain.
Taking a complete right turn, her passion for food and home-style cooking slowly turned into a passion for teaching cooking for kids and teens. She has taught basic food handling and kitchen skills, created nutritious alternatives to the high calorie/high sodium processed foods kids love and imparted a passion for a future as a chef in even the most apathetic of students. She also discovered, almost by accident, that she has a knack for catering and organizing home dinner parties.
The monkey has a passion for volunteering and has had a volunteer gig every day of her life since the age of 12. Currently, Tatyanna is volunteer Fundraising Committee Chair for Multiracial Americans of Southern California and Board member of the indigenous women’s organization Morningstar Foundation, whose Founder Rachelle Figureoa has a lifelong commitment to improving the lives of indigenous women and girls.
Once again, welcome and take a look around. Please comment and let me know your thoughts. I would love to know who is reading this stuff!
