Yesterday began with Sophie curled up next to mommy, content and satisfied. Since Brigid’s disappearance on Thursday Sophie has been relishing in the 100% attention from me. You must know that Sophie was the runt of the litter, she is smaller than her sister and she is the meek one of the two. Since S was smaller, B was always her protector out in the world when they were still “wild” kitty’s. B tends to use intimidation tactics on her sister, hence Sophie acts very sheepish most of the time. But, in B’s absence S was coming out of her shell. She has even approached my uh…S.O….for some petting, which had not happened since she was a kitten.

So, as is customary on lazy Sunday afternoon’s, the S.O. and I were hanging out over at the park across the street from my apartment. There is this fantastic climbing tree over there that I just can’t resist. In a very gallant manner, he lifted me into the tree. *sigh* We were there for about 5-6 minutes just making each other laugh as usual, and I was looking across the street at my building.

Suddenly, I saw something moving on the front lawn and exclaimed, “Is that a black and white cat in front of the building?” “YES!” he shouted as he instantaneously broke into a full sprint across the park, into the street(nearly getting hit by a car) and over to the yard.

When I got safely across the street, I saw Brigid running in between the two apartment buildings into this grass and dirt area, which has a cement wall(about 6 ft. tall) along the back of it. My S.O. slowly approached Brigid, who was yelling at the top of her little kitty lungs. She is a very talkative kitty and she was outdoing herself. She seemed to be saying, “OMG! I’ve been out here for days. I’m hungry Mr. Human.” He knelt down and spoke softly to her. A neighbor and her young son watched through their 1st floor window as he told Brigid that we had been looking for her and we had missed her.

I stood back about 50 ft. so that B would not get scared away by too much commotion. HE calmly coaxed her to come to him. She did so three times before he was able to pick her up.

As I saw him come out from behind the small bushes with my sweet Brigid in his arms, tears welled up in my eyes. I was simultaneously struck with joy at my kitty being home and stunned into letting loose all the tears I held back for three days. As a cancer I tend to set aside my intense feelings for fear they will overwhelm me. This experience of my “little girl” being rescued and brought back to me by my S.O. was intense and wonderful.

So, I won’t bore you with all the details of the bits of steak dinner that B got as a welcome home treat or the way Sophie keeps hissing and growling at B because she is pissed off or how I held B in my lap as she held her head against me and I wept.

But…I will share some pics.

Brigid has just eaten quite a few pieces of steak from mommy, so it was Sophie’s turn to get some steak from Brigid’s Hero. Notice that B is keeping close watch?

Brigid’s 1st act after coming into my room/her room was a bite of cat food. Her second cat was a tongue bath and a quick snooze. Note the sooty paws. She had been hiding out in the crawlspace under the building. 20 ft. below my bedroom window!

Please pardon my bad picture editing. I wanted to let ya’ll know asap!

Thank you all for the prayers, positive energy and support. It really did help. 🙂

btw: Sophie really is upset and is treating B like she has done her an terrible injustice. Brigid on the other hand just looks up at me, shrugs her shoulders and goes back to bathing herself. She’s like, “Mom, what’s up with sis?” *sigh* B has been especially lovey dovey and it’s very nice to have her home.

I am grateful that Brigid’s Hero was instrumental in bringing my little girl home to us.

Yay!!! Brigid’s back from her vision quest! I wonder if she’s any more enlightened now? 😉

      hehe

We were talking after she came back and he said, “She’s back from her vision quest”. When I told him that you had said that is where she was, he was quite taken aback and “moved”. This was all part of Spirit’s design.

Nothing like a dashing knight aiding a damsel (or would that be two damsels, one with four paws) in distress. =)

So incredibly glad to hear Brigid is home where she belongs. *hugs*

  4. YAY! She’s back. I’m so happy for all of you. 😀 *tight hugs* Poor Sophie. She’ll get used to it again. 🙂

Thanks sweetie. *hug* Brigid gave Sophie a bath this morning. Sophie tried to be mad at her but loved it, but she hissed at me. She’s a moody one.
